Afterschool Club for Nevada Middle School

Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County's afterschool program is back in full swing this year. The program is in the Nevada Middle School and will take place Monday-Friday from the moment school is dismissed to 6 p.m. Each day those in attendance participate in various programs and activities. The day begins with a snack and homework time and then moves into Club programming. There will be many programs offered such as science club, Torch Club, art club and many others. There is never a dull moment for our participants!

We are always looking to add more members to the Nevada Middle School afterschool program to share all of the fun with. Feel free to contact the Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County for information on how to get registered at 515-233-1872 or email theclub@bgcstorycounty.org

Exciting News!

Leaders in the community have identified a need for after-school programming opportunities for middle school youth in Nevada and have partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Story County to launch a 5-day per week Club experience for middle school students. To open the site by the fall of 2018, the community needs to raise $40,000. In response, Burke Corporation is issuing a challenge to the Nevada community – for every dollar raised by September 15, 2018, Burke will match each gift, up to $15,000.

“There is no better investment then the youth in our community,” said Chad Randick, president of Burke Corporation. “Burke is happy to be involved in this grass roots effort to provide a safe and fun place for our middle school kids to go after school that provides an engaging Club Experience and caring professionals to guide them. Nevada is a wonderful community and I have no doubt they will exceed this challenge.”

The community fundraising challenge kicked-off on Tuesday, August 7 with a Boys & Girls 100 Club breakfast. The goal was to have 100 people attend and the cost to attend was $100. The breakfast was held at Gatherings Event Venue, 1024 6th St., Nevada, Iowa. The day of the breakfast more then $8,000 was raised. Special thanks to Kiwanis Club of Nevada for hosting the event and Gatherings for providing the venue.
